| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Saint Mirren 1 Ross County 1 Ross County striker Alex Bone left Love Street with mixed feelings. He scored the goal that earned a First Division point, but felt he could have made it an even better afternoon. But County manager Neale Cooper had no doubts that his side played well. Cooper said: "That was one of the best performances from us this season and I am proud of the way the lads played and fought hard. We played some super football." County were in the mood to take the game to the Buddies and both Steve Ferguson and Steve Hislop came close in opening exchanges. Midway through the first half County were celebrating when Bone ran on to a superb through ball from Hislop to fire it into the net for the opener. Bone should have doubled that lead before the interval when he was sent clear by Ian Maxwell but he watched in agony as his lob beat Ludovic Roy and came back off the bar. The Buddies battled back in the second half and came close to equalising in 52 minutes but were denied by a brave double save by Tony Bullock. But the home team finally drew level when a Gary Bowman cross was knocked on by Jose Quitongo and Ricky Gillies was on the spot to stab it home. Bone said: "I was happy to score against my old team but I am annoyed that we did not get the three points. I missed a great chance to put us 2-0 up before the half-time interval." Buddies boss Tom Hendrie had seen his side booed off at the interval. He said: "The second half was ours." |
