Rovers goal hero Colin Mitchell reckons County paid the ultimate price for being too cocky.
Mitchell and his mates couldn't believe their eyes as they watched the high-flying Highlanders go through a lacklustre warm-up.
He admitted: "They were swanning about and it looked like they had just come to collect an easy three points--but we knew how important this game was.
And Albion player-boss Vinnie Moore is certain that was the key to his side's victory which hoisted them to third in the table.
He said: "Some of the boys came in after limbering up and said that their players looked very slack and maybe weren't anticipating a very hard game.
"It must have done something because I have never seen the boys so fired-up."
Mitchell struck the killer second goal after 18 minutes with a delicate chip over veteran keeper Nicky Walker.
His team-mates thought it was a fluke but the man of the match insisted he Was going for goal.
He said: "Some of the boys were saying I didn't mean it but I had looked up and saw the goalie off his line."
And Moore backed his man when he said: Colin had a nightmare last week and maybe thought he wouldn't be in the team today but he was magnificent and I believe he meant his goal."
Outstanding Skipper Paul Martin had already headed Rovers ahead on six minutes after striker Willie Watters had forced a corner.
County should have pulled one back in the second half through Derek Adams but Keeper Stevie Ross saved well.
And things then went from bad to worse for the league leaders when Adams and striker Gary Wood were sent off.
County boss Neale Cooper put a brave face on his side's dismal display but admitted his team never looked as hungry as Albion.
He said: "We never applied all we had spoken about before the game and that is disappointing.
"They were more passionate and we were second to every ball in the first half. It improved but it was always going to be hard losing two players."
