Dundee 3 Ross County 0
In the end it proved a happy homecoming for Jocky Scott as Dundee's former boss and player led the Dark Blues to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup in his first match at Dens since replacing John McCormack.
Scott can now look forward to a glamour clash against Rangers at Ibrox in the last eight.
Scott's first significant change up trumps as striker Eddie Annand's return to the first team in favour of Steve McCormick produced a match-winning double for the ex-Clyde man.
In such a tight game the first goal was always going to be critical and, much to the Highlanders' despair, it was Dundee who got it.
A Rogers through ball from the back after 50 minutes was dummied by James Grady allowing Annand to burst clear and slot a left-foot shot past Walker.
And worse was to follow for County just two minutes later when Anderson's corner from the left was bulleted home by Robbie Raeside. It was a cruel blow and effectively ended the Victoria Park's side cup dreams.
The third goal was no surprise when it came, 13 minutes from the end. Grady again sent Annand clear for the striker to net his second of the night.
Gary Woods missed a great chance for a consolation goal late on when Irvine cleared poorly into the path of the young striker, but the could only shoot weakly, but the path of the young striker, but he could only shoot weakly at Douglas.
