Choked County striker Derek Adams took it on the chin after his late penalty miss at Victoria Park cost his side two points.
The ex- Aberdeen and Burnley player saw his 80th minute spot-kick saved by John Donegan.
And there was double agony when team-mate David MacKay blasted over the rebound.
Forfar--who had Jamie Loney sent off for the handball which led to the penalty--would have been buried if Adams had scored.
He said: "In my book penalties like that don't go down as good saves. It was a bad kick and no one's more disappointed about it than me. There are no excuses."
Adams, though, had given County a stunning first minute lead--and he earned praise from gaffer Neale Cooper.
He said: "He's been playing well and scored in style today but I didn't see Derek's kick.
"Funnily enough, I turned round just at the point David MacKay had a go--and I thought That was the penalty."
Forfar grabbed a point with Ben Honeyman's 13th minute, point-blank effort.
....SFA supremo Jim Farry and UEFA officials took in the game to check out Victoria Park's suitability as a potential European Youth Championship venue in 1998.
