| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 0 Arbroath 2 Arbroath manager John Brogan will tell his Gayfield troops to relax and enjoy their Coca-Cola Cup trip to face holders Raith Rovers on Saturday week, while Ross County count the cost of missing out on a crowd-pulling trip to Kirkcaldy. Arbroath knocked Raith out of this tournament 2-1 at Stark's Park a couple of years ago, so manager Jimmy Nicholl will be anxious not to have his fingers burnt a second time. After their impressive Dingwall success, Brogan said: "It was a great performance and we are quietly confident we are going to do well in the Third Division. Our lads have nothing to lose at Kirkcaldy and it will be a great experience for the younger players. "I'll be telling them just to go out and enjoy it." County boss Bobby Wilson whose son, Barry, plays for Raith said: "the result costs us a share of a tie at Premier Division prices, but I am actually more bitterly disappointment in the performance. We never tested their keeper and I felt our defence, midfield and attack were units which never linked together. "They played like total strangers to one another and I am certainly looking at changes for this weekend's opening league game with Queen's Park at Dingwall." County's superb new north stand received a sunshine opening, but the 1,150 fans failed to get a display to match the surroundings in a low-key affair which the visitors deserved to win. The fizz and flair of last season were missing and County will be hoping this was just a bad day at the office and looking to be much more assertive against the Hampden men. On Saturday, one-time Dundee United player John Lindsay, who won the man-of-the-match award, opened the scoring in 78 minutes with a glorious volley off John McAulay's cross and Steve McCormack added the second in the final minute when keeper Steve Hutchinson fumbled a cross. |
