| Comments | Match Report Report by Keir Murray for the BBC. Played Behind Closed Doors Ross County 2 Kilmarnock 2 Kilmarnock boss Alex Dyer was frustrated by three penalty incidents in Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Ross County but praised his players' effort. Killie came from behind to lead 2-1 in Dingwall but a disputed late penalty was converted by County's Ross Stewart. "It's a point but by rights we should have been going home with three, but it's not to be," said Dyer. "We've had three tough games and taken two points. The performances have been very good in all three games." Kilmarnock, having drawn with champions Celtic on Sunday, trailed at half-time to Ross Draper's glancing header on Wednesday as County looked set to continue their unblemished start. Chris Burke and Kirk Broadfoot had penalty claims waved away by referee Gavin Duncan before Alan Power levelled with a composed finish and Burke smashed in his third in three games. However, those dismissed penalty claims were made to feel all the more raw when Duncan gave a spot-kick to County when Michael Gardyne's cross hit Burke's arm as he turned his back on the ball. Dyer feels County defender Josh Reid clearly pulled Burke back by his jersey when the winger was through on goal, and believes Stewart's arm got in the way of Kirk Broadfoot's goalbound header. "The linesman should see it," said Dyer of Burke's penalty claim. "He isn't going to go down because he's through on goal. I don't understand that one. "The second one was definitely handball and we didn't get it again. They got one with the handball on Burkey when it wasn't really handball. "I'm really disappointed that we didn't get the three points but I'm happy with the boys. They showed good character and moved the ball well. We scored two good goals and could have had three or four." County had their own moments to rue. Draper spurned a first-minute chance before heading Josh Mullin's cross past Danny Rogers after 15 minutes, Mullin headed a Gardyne cross wide of the target and Stewart smacked the post ahead of his perfectly placed penalty. Ross County lost a slew of influential players in the summer, among them Richard Foster, Don Cowie and Marcus Fraser, but they busied themselves with recruitment too. Before kick-off, Stuart Kettlewell emphasised that he had made four changes to his hitherto winning team because he predicted it would be a demanding season and he wanted a freshness in County's play. Harry Paton, Jordan Tillson, Lee Erwin and Billy Mckay dropped out, with Ross Draper, Michael Gardyne, Josh Mullin and Regan Charles-Cook coming in. All made significant contributions. Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell: "You could see that we were trying to win the game. It's trying to be progressive in our play and trying to pass the ball - how we've lost the goals, I take full accountability for that. "I was pleased at how we came back at Kilmarnock. We hit the woodwork and could have won it at the death. It maintains an unbeaten start to the campaign." Kilmarnock manager Alex Dyer: "I'm happy with the boys. It was a good performance in the second half. We played 10 yards further up the pitch." |
