Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2 Ross County 2
The second Highland derby of the season ended even after a 35-yard howitzer and a controversial own goal.
Ross County lost ground on leaders Ayr after the four-goal thriller, while Inverness Caledonian Thistle drop to sixth after a seventh consecutive draw.
Jamie Lindsay rasped in a long-range opener for County but George Oakley's volley drew Inverness level.
Shaun Rooney put the hosts ahead, but Brad McKay turned Billy Mckay's cross into his own net to tie the game again.
Caley Thistle claimed Mckay was offside but the officials disagreed and the goal stood.
County's Sean Kelly had a good chance in a goalless second half, while Inverness' Liam Polworth struck a post and Aaron Doran could not net the rebound.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Robertson: "It was an absolutely magnificent game and a brilliant atmosphere. Both teams went hell-for-leather.
"We felt on the day that we had slightly the better chances to win it but you can't argue that a draw was probably a fair result."
Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson: "I think as a spectacle it was a really good game. It was set up the way it should have been with two teams that were desperate to win and tried everything to win.
"Both sets of supporters were lively and seemed to enjoy the game. Both teams had chances to win it and both gave opportunities to lose it as well so probably a draw is a fair result."
