| Comments | Match Report Report from Sky Sports Rangers 1 Ross County 1 Rangers have slipped to third in the Scottish Premiership after Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Ross County. It could have been worse for the hosts at Ibrox but skipper Lee Wallace was on target with just under 20 minutes remaining to salvage a point. The draw capped a grim week for Mark Warburton's Rangers side, who were beaten 4-1 at Hearts on Wednesday night, and, despite Wallace's 71st-minute equaliser, the final whistle was greeted by boos from some of the home fans. The Highlanders served Rangers with an early warning, home goalkeeper Wes Foderingham forced to pull off a good save to keep out a Martin Wood shot which had deflected off Clint Hill. Ross County then took the lead after 18 minutes when Jim O'Brien powered down the right and sent over a fine low pass to pick out Alex Schalk, who took a touch before finding the far corner of the net. Schalk had another good chance 10 minutes later but scuffed the ball into the side-netting after a mix-up between Foderingham and Hill allowed O'Brien to cut the ball back from the by-line. At the other end, Garner was within inches of getting on the end of a James Tavernier cross. However, chances continued to come the way of Schalk and he drew another good save from Foderingham just before the interval. Rangers started the second half with efforts from recalled former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos and veteran forward Kenny Miller, which both missed the target. Visiting goalkeeper Scott Fox then produced a brilliant save to keep out a close-range from Garner. But Rangers left-back Wallace managed to get them back on level terms when he exchanged passes with Jon Toral down the left before beating Fox with a low shot from a tight angle. The home side pushed for the winner but spurned several free-kicks outside the box and no one could begrudge the Highlanders a point at the end of the afternoon after a hard-working performance. |
