This Wasn't the stroll in the sun the final score indicates and had County been that little bit sharper up front the end result could have been quite different.
As it was, the sharper, fitter Hamilton side got what looked on paper a convincing friendly victory on their Highland safari.
Yet county, who had former Hamilton player Charlie MacLean playing an impressive trail, scorned a few good chances, had a net-bound shot headed off the goal-line and saw a Gordon Connelly effort come off the crossbar.
Boss Wilson reports that trialist MacLean, while impressive, is away to Grimsby for trials and he will have to await the outcome. "He is a full-time player and that could well put a spoke in any plans I would have for signing him," said Mr Wilson.
Hamilton took the lead in 19 minutes through Paul Chalmers who was substituted by McStay at the interval, and two strikers within eight minutes in 31 and 39 by Scott McCulloch ended the game as a contest.
Connelly, Grant and Campbell all came close for the home side but it just wasn't their scoring day, a fact which was underlined when former Rangers pivot Craig Paterson headed off the goal-line.
