| Comments | Match Report Report from the North Star. Elgin City 1 Ross County 3 Two late goals earned Ross County a well deserved victory over Elgin City at Borough Briggs on Tuesday night. Elgin City had the ball in the net after only seven minutes but the referee had already awarded Whyte a free kick on the edge of the area before he ran on to lob goalkeeper Hamilton. In 14 minutes ex-Hamilton Accies striker Michael Geraghty took a McKay free kick in his stride, turned on the edge of the area and put County ahead with a clinical strike high into the net. County were in charge for most of the game until the 80th minute when Whyte slotted in an equaliser after Polworth's corner had been dropped by Hamilton. Substitute Munro put County back in front in 86 minutes, sliding a Nicol lay-off from McGill's cross into the net. Two minutes later McGill clinched victory, gaining on poor defending to scramble home from close range. |
