Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2 Ross County 0
Caley Jags retained the Inverness Cup at Caledonian Stadium last night with a comfortable 2-0 win over Ross County in a final delayed by 11 months.
Scheduled for last November, the final was held over due to difficulties in arranging date and at the end of the first half the majority of last night 1,426 crowd must have wished that they hadn't bothered.
But if the fuse fizzled slowly in the first half it set fire to the match on the hour mark when Paul Cherry headed the opener past Steve Hutchison, who replaced former Aberdeen and Scotland keeper Nicky Walker at half-time, after Shearer, Barry Wilson and Iain Stewart combined to set the Caley Jags skipper up with an easy chance.
Sixteen minutes from time Stewart missed another great chance to stitch up Caley's win but he missed from 16 yards.
But former Aberdeen hitman Duncan Shearer made no mistake from eight yards out nine minutes from time.
