Dundee 2 Ross County 0 Dundee stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games after goals from Matt Lockwood and Gary Harkins ensured victory over Ross County at Dens Park. Lockwood blasted Dundee ahead in 27 minutes from the penalty spot after Craig Forsyth was tumbled when he seemed set to score from 10 yards out. Harkins controlled the ball superbly on his chest and lashed the ball past the goalkeeper with seven minutes left. Stuart Kettlewell's miserable afternoon ended with a dying-seconds red card. Dundee have found remarkable togetherness in adversity and are now one point behind Division One leaders Dunfermline. Even if their 25-point penalty for entering administration should stand, they are now within five points of basement side Stirling. And, if they could bottle what player-manager Barry Smith has put in the water at Dens, they could make a fortune. Forsyth could have put Dundee in front after five minutes but fired over from 16 yards after a fine threaded pass from Leigh Griffiths. County hit back a minute later with a tasty curling shot from Dundonian Michael Gardyne that skimmed just wide of the post. Dundee's paper thin squad was boosted by trialist Steven Robb, who started his career at Dens but is currently on loan from St Mirren. The 49-year-old Rab Geddes found himself heading for the Guinness Book of Records being listed as goalkeeping substitute after Dominic Cervi returned to Celtic from his loan spell. Meantime, young keeper John Gibson, who had been on loan at Sligo Rovers, had to sit the game out after being thwarted by cross-border transfer regulations despite being a signed Dundee player. In 37 minutes, Forsyth raced down the left, sweeping a low cross-cum-shot just wide of McGovern's far post. Then Griffiths raced through one on one on goalkeeper Michael McGovern, only to be robbed by a brave diving save from the Irishman in the last of the first-half action. The second half started in bad tempered fashion. A lengthy delay ensued just five minutes in after a bad injury to Darren McCormack, who went down in a heap in a tackle with Craig Forsyth. The Dundee man was booked while McCormack, who had only come on at the restart, left the field on a stretcher. Minutes afterwards, Forsyth appeared to be kicked on the ground in a challenge with Stuart Kettlewell, who had come on as a substitute to replace his injured colleague. A real rammy ensued, with referee Frank Dermott lost amid the scrum of players squaring up to each other. When order was finally restored, five yellow cards had been flourished and Kettlewell was booed by the home support for the remainder of the game. Dundee made sure of the points when Harkins picked the ball up inside the penalty area, swivelled to his right and lashed his shot high past McGovern. Kettlewell's miserable afternoon ended with a red card in the last seconds of the game and he looked disconsolate as manager Willie McStay tried to comfort him as he left the field.
