| Comments | Match Report Report from the Daily Record. Ross County 1 Cowdenbeath 1 WILLIE McSTAY insists County face the game of their lives next weekend - as their winless spell stretched to eight games. An own goal blunder kept the Dingwall outfit mired in relegation trouble despite pinning Beath to the ropes for long spells. Jason Marr's superb strike gave the home side a half - time lead but Marc Fitzpatrick stabbed past his own keeper six minutes after the restart to give Cowden a point. Manager McStay said: "You score a wonder goal but there were numerous chances for us to win the game. "I've said to the players these chances must be finished from now on - we've got to kill teams off. "I think it's coming. I have told the players they've created the game of their lives next week against Stirling Albion. "You can get all the glory games you like against Dundee United or whoever but this is the game of their lives. "Our target is to do better in the second half of the season than the first - then we'll have a fighting chance. "We play a team below us next week and three points are a must. We have to be strong and positive - it must be the game in which we kick on." Stevie Milne made an early impact on his debut when he cracked a shot off the inside of the post. County went ahead in 30 minutes when Marr (left) thrashed a stunning shot into the corner of the net from the right - hand side of the box. Four minutes after the break a great defence - splitting Stuart Kettlewell pass sent Garry Wood clean through on the keeper. But the striker shot wide - a miss that was to prove costly soon after. Cowden's Archie Campbell crossed from the left and the unlucky Fitzpatrick turned into his own net from six yards. County pushed on for a winner but couldn't breach the visitors' rearguard. Beath boss Jimmy Nicholl said: "I tore into the players at the break. Often this season after going behind we've collapsed but today they fought on. We'll wait and see if it's a turning point." |
