Scott Murray kept his eighth clean sheet of the season, and the young keeper was well protected by a solid back line as Dundee battled to a draw at Dingwall. The Dark Blues had the better of the first forty five in a game where flowing football was at a premium, and held firm when Ross County came back into the match after the break.
Manager Alan Kernaghan had made several changes to the side that lost the cup semi on Saturday, with Colin Marshall, Steven Craig and Steven Robb as well as Murray in the starting eleven.
The result still leaves Dundee going to Stranraer at the weekend seeking a first win in eight league games and without a goal in their last four competitive outings, but it was a much tighter performance than shown at Hampden.
Steven Craig had a decent chance on the quarter hour, but the striker fired his effort from 15-yards well wide. Three minutes later he had another opportunity but drove his eight-yard effort straight at home keeper McCaldon. Callum Macdonald too hammered a shot wide as Dundee looked in control.
County came back at Dundee after the interval, but the game still lacked any real quality. Bobby Mann did well to block a Fergus Tiernan effort, and in 72 minutes Scott Murray was called into serious action, making a fine save from John Rankin's thirty- yarder.
There was a let off for Dundee ten minutes from the end as Mann's attempted clearance fell to the feet of Robbie Winters who fired weakly and straight at Murray. Winters had another go a minute later zipping a shot narrowly wide.
