Clyde 2 Ross County 2
Ross County may have been knocked off the top of the First Division, but the young Dingwall players are confident they can reclaim their place at the head of the table.
A last-minute own goal from County defender Jamie McCunnie gave Clyde a share of the spoils on Saturday--and allowed Caley Thistle to leapfrog Alex Smith's men in the league standings.
However, County midfielder Stephen O'Donnell said: "We are a young side and no one would ever have forecast we would have made the start we have. I am sure we will get over this."
County were on their way to yet another three points on the road as John Rankin and O'Donnell gave them a 2-1 half-time lead, With Steve McConalogue pulling one back for Clyde. But, in the dying seconds, McCunnie sliced a Jack Ross cross into the net.
O'Donnell said: "It was a one-in-a-million chance--we could replay the game over and over and it would never happen again."
County manager Smith was disappointed to drop two points, but believes his youngsters will learn from the game.
He said: "It is unfortunate, but it happens in football. I thought we could have had at least a two-goal lead and I never thought Clyde would score. Credit to them for never giving up.
"We were desperately unlucky not to make it 3-1 near the end, but the ball was just the wrong side of John Rankin.
However, although we played some excellent football in the first half, when you sit as deep, as we did in the second half, it only takes a mistake to punish you. In this instance were punished."
The visitors looked good early on at Broadwood and deservedly took the lead in the 22nd minute when Hugh Robertson set up Rankin and the former Manchester United youngster scored with a low drive.
The home side hit back with a 29th-minute equaliser from McConalogue, but Smith's troops restored their lead two minutes later when O'Donnell pounced.
And it looked like staying that way until the unfortunate McCunnie's last-gasp own goal.
