Saint Mirren 2 Ross County 0
Ross County manager Alex Smith was upset at his players and referee Craig MacKay as his side signed off with a disappointing defeat.
The manager said: "We played like this for the last three games--lacklustre.
"The referee played too long in the first half and Saints scored.
"Ironically, we have the best disciplinary record in the league and yet three players were booked. The referee matched the performance of the team.
It meant that a season which had promised so much for so long ended in a disappointing fashion and the team in mid table.
With both sides unable to break the deadlock it looked odds-on a no-scoring first half. But, deep into injury time, Saints opened the scoring when Kevin McGowne headed down and over goalkeeper Graeme Smith into the net.
And Saints added their second on the 75 minute mark when Jim Lauchlan brought down Brian McGinty, only for the forward to get up and score with the resultant penalty.
That was that as both sides began to look towards their summer break and preparations for next season.
Saints manager Gus McPherson will be hoping for much better next time out and, despite the result, will be on the search for new faces.
He said: "We have lost only one league game since I took charge, but we are not kidding anyone as we have had too many draws."
