| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 4 Arbroath 0 Ross County only managed one point out of a possible 12 against Arbroath last season, but already this term Neale Cooper's men have recorded back to back victories over the Red Lichties scoring seven goals with no reply. On this occasion County got off to a flyer scoring twice in the opening couple of minutes and although the visitors plugged away gamely after a nightmare start there was only going to be one winner on the day. Steve Mackay headed County into the lead in just 72 seconds when he connected with a Steve McGarry cross, and Steve Hislop landed a second within a minute when he volleyed home at close range. Hislop, in only his second outing of the season netted again five minutes from the break, and Hugh Robertson livened up an otherwise an uneventful second half with a scorching 35-yard drive which ended up in the top corner of the net. County boss Cooper said after the game: "We came back well after a disappointing display against Alloa a couple of weeks ago. But we've had no time off and have worked hard in training and it certainly paid off today with an excellent performance. "We battled away from the start and kept at them. Steve Hislop was different class not just with his goal but his overall contribution." |
