Neale Cooper swore there was life for County after Derek Adams and he was delighted to see his side prove it.
While Adams was scoring his first goal for Motherwell his former Dingwall mates put a string of bad results behind them with strikes by Roy McBain and Keith Ferries.
Manager Cooper said: "I told the players to silence talk in the papers about Derek and show we can still play well."
Paddy Flannery pulled one back for the Sons but furious manager Ian Wallace said: "You can have eight or nine players performing well and carry two or three, but we were carrying more than that."
