Ross County 1 Greenock Morton 2
Two goals from Alan Blaikie eased Morton into the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup at the expense of hard-working Ross County last night.
The First Division promotion tips grabbed a goal in each half to lead 2-0 going into the final minute-- when striker Gary Wood grabbed a consolation goal for the home side.
In 33 minutes midfield man Alan Mahood picked up Williamson's clearance in the Morton half, side-stepped two challenges and put through a perfectly weighted ball for Blaikie, who had enough time to draw Hutchison off his line before he tucked the ball under the County keeper's body from 12 yards.
In 63 minutes County worked a good move down the left but Golabek's cross whistled just over the head of Sandy Ross.
But County's good 15-minute spell ended in 75 minutes when Blaikie flicked a clever header wide of Hutchison and in off the inside of the far post when winger Paul Blair picked him out with a pinpoint cross.
That kicked the tie out of County's reach, despite a typical poacher's goal from Wood, who forced the ball over the line when Haro outjumped the Morton defence to knock down Golabek's deep free kick from the right.
