| Comments | Match Report Report by Scott Macnab for the Press & Journal. Alloa Athletic 1 Ross County 0 Alloa boss Tom Hendrie praised former Southampton and Scotland youth star Paul Sheerin after the on-trial midfielder's wonder goal settled a pulsating Third Division promotion clash with Ross County. The 23-year-old picked up the man-of the-match award at The Recs as the hosts leapfrogged the Highlanders into second place. Hendrie said: "We just don't score like that. In all my time here we have maybe scored one or two that get close to it and it was a goal worthy of winning any game." The goal came after just 11 minutes, Paul Simpson broke down the right and squared for Sheerin, who steadied himself, let the ball bounce, then lashed a 20-yard shot into County keeper Nicky Walker's top right-hand corner. |
