| Comments | Match Report Report by Bill McAllister for the Press & Journal. Ross County 2 Inverness Caledonian Thistle 0 Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has joined the pack of leading bosses tracking Caledonian Thistle's teenager left back Richard Hastings. An Old Trafford scout watched the schoolboy international in the Highland Third Division derby where winger Billy Ferries gave Hastings a tough time. Former Highland League manager George Adams, who is how scouting for Celtic, was also there to check out the Inverness lad. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers are tracking Alness lad Paul Bradshaw (16), who is on amateur forms with Ross County. The versatile youngster, still in County's under-16 team, has already been on trial with Rangers and was the subject of a phone call from Kenny Dalglish to Ross boss Bobby Wilson last week. Rovers are keen to see Bradshaw show his paces at Ewood Park. A Blackburn scout was also at Dingwall having a look at Hastings and his teammate Ian Stewart, the Third Division's top scorer. The fans saw two goals from Helmsdale lad Jamie MacPherson gun down Caley Thistle and take County back to second place in the table. Young David MacKay drew the visitors sting with an outstanding marking job on Stewart. Goal hero MacPherson almost didn't play. He was trouled by a stomach upset and manager Wilson gambled on his fitness. As soon as Jamie had nodded the scond goal in 58 minutes, he was withdrawn. Wilson was delighted that Stuart Golabek, his new £15,000 sighing from Clach, was involved in both goals. He said: "The lad tired but showed he can give us natural width. MY pool is not yet complete. We might even have two new faces by the time we visit Ayr United in the Scottish Cup on January 6." |
