| Comments | Match Report Report from the Daily Record. Ross County 4 Cowdenbeath 1 Brian Grant took a step back in time to fire County's promotion charge. The Dingwall hitman rolled back the years to grab a double and sink Cowdenbeath. And the former Highland League goal king said: "The old magic was back in the boots and my first goal--a header--was probably one of the best I've scored." Grant has made three top team starts in a row after being frozen out in the two years since County joined the Scottish League. He admitted: "I'm desperate to repay the boss's faith in me, and Saturday was a great way to start. It felt like old times." Grant averaged about 25 goals a season in the Highland League and finished top scorer one season with 45. He even ended up top scorer in the Scottish Cup in 1991. Colin Milne scored a 4th minute opener, but it was cancelled out by Alan Mackenzie eight minutes later. It took until 11 minutes from time for county to clinch the match through Grant's header from a Milne cross, and his second on the rebound from keeper Russell. Sub Gordon Connelly added the fourth. Grant added: "If Brechin and Caley Thistle win their games in hand, they'll go ahead of us, but we still have to play these sides." |
