| Comments | Match Report Published: 15/8/1994 Press & Journal Report by Steve Smith Cowdenbeath 0 Ross County 2 There was no silverware to play for but Ross County's game on Saturday against struggling Cowdenbeath was the most prized 90 minutes in the Highlander's history. The Dingwall club, playing its first game in the Scottish League, showed sheer professionalism, and determination in a clear-cut 2-0 win at Central Park. About 200 County fans made the winding trip south and they revelled in a carnival atmosphere usually kept for cup finals. County have been under the spotlight since announcing their intention last season to leave the Press and Journal Highland League and venture into the unknown of Division Three. But they are certainly not there to make up league numbers. Last season Cowdenbeath notched up a wooden spoon record after going 38 league games without a win. They could do but come second best again on Saturday. Second half goals by Billy Herd and Jamie McPherson after two pieces of neatly worked football did the damage that sunk Cowden.
