Ross County 6 Nairn County 0 Ross County set up an all-Third Division Inverness Cup final with a resounding 6-0 victory against Press & Journal Highland League Nairn County in last night's semi-final at Victoria Park,. Ross cruised to a 3-0 lead and extended their winning margin to a handsome half dozen at a virtual canter against a Nairn side which worked hard but was outclassed by the Scottish League club. Ross boss Neale Cooper had to drop plans to hand striker Jamie Macpherson a comeback appearance following his return from Australia because the Helmsdale hitman's international clearance had not come through in time but that scarcely mattered as County's slick one-touch style gave Nairn more problems than they could handle. The home side took a 2-0 lead through a Richard Hart double and Stuart Golabek made it 3-0 in 26 minutes, Substitute Gordon Connelly hit No. 4 in 51 minutes, Chris Sommerville made it five and Hart completed his hat-trick 13 minutes from time. |
