Second-bottom Cowdenbeath moved to within a point of Ross County by beating the Highlanders in Scottish Football League Division One.
Mark Ramsay fired home from 20 yards to give Beath the lead after six minutes.
And Scott Linton doubled the home side's advantage, finishing well after receiving Scott Linton's pass.
County's Richard Brittain scored an 87th-minute penalty following Craig Winter's foul on Mark Corcoran but the vistors could not find an equaliser.
