Sean Higgins' first-half goal was enough for 10-man Ross County to leapfrog Raith Rovers back to the top of the Second Division.
County deserved their 34th-minute opener, Higgins driving the ball home after Andy Barrowman's header was saved by goalkeeper Keiron Renton.
County's Gary Miller's sent a shot against the post after the break.
Paul Lawson was shown a straight red card after 66 minutes, after which both sides missed chances to score.
