| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Dundee 0 Ross County 0 Ross County midfielder Fergus Tiernan insists that manager John Robertson has nothing to prove to anyone. After his ill-fated spell at Hearts, Robertson has led County on a First Division promotion chase, although the draw with Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday has led to County losing top spot to St Mirren for now. As if to underline the strides forward that County have taken, Robertson's men were disappointed at managing only a draw at Dens. And Tiernan reckons that kind of will to win is why the manager earns so much respect at Victoria Park. Tiernan said: "There is a terrific atmosphere at this club, and that stems from the gaffer--his enthusiasm is fantastic. "John Robertson is e top-class manager and I don't think he has anything to prove, despite what happened at Hearts. "We have come to Dens Park and ended up being disappointed with only a draw. That shows you the manager has us setting our standards as high as possible." While County were handed what few real chances there were in the game, neither side was able to muster up much of a spectacle. Steve McGarry came closest to breaking the deadlock just before the break when he swivelled to fire a shot off the bar. And the same player was handed a chance to grab a win for the visitors at the death when he beat the offside trap, only to curl his shot wide. New Dundee manager Alan Kernaghan is still without a win in four games since replacing Jim Duffy, and he locked his players in the dressing-room after Saturday's game to let his feelings be known. Dark Blues skipper Barry Smith has joined his manager in calling for a vast improvement in the Dundee ranks--and fast. He said: "The boys know that the way we are playing is simply not good enough and we have got to work harder. We have good, quality players at this club, but we have to show it to the new manager. We should be going for promotion, but, at the moment, are nowhere near doing that." |
