| Comments | Match Report Report from DeeArchive. Dundee 0 Ross County 0 For the supporters of both teams this match was a bore, but for young Scott Murray it was the stuff of dreams. Four clean sheets in a row are great results for any keeper, never mind a seventeen-year-old, and Scott seems to have the magic touch which means opposition forwards don't actually make him save shots Murray though had to be brave and alert away from stopping direct hits on target, but Ross County never had a direct strike on goal - unfortunately neither did Dundee in a match which will be quickly forgotten. Dundee started with the same line up who had beaten Stranraer in the previous weeks cup tie, there were a couple of new boys on the bench in the shape of keeper Andrew Britton, who had signed on a short term contract, and midfielder Colin Marshall. Scott Murray had to be alert as County made the first chance of the match racing from his line to clear as Alex Burke chased Sean Higgins' through ball. Dundee hit back with efforts from a Lynch header and Kevin McDonald shot, both well off target. On the half hour County defender David Cowan fired in a dipping drive from thirty yards which zipped inches over, it was by far the best effort from either side in the first period, though the Dingwall side missed the best chance of the match five minutes before the break Higgins headed a cross into the patch of Burke, but from just eight yards out he pulled his shot wide of the post. Just moments before the interval the visitors had a claim for a penalty. Scott Murray came a long way to grasp a in-swinging free kick from the left but couldn't hang onto the ball and as it broke free Lionel Djebi- Zadi pounced on the loose ball, as he twisted and turned to try and find space he went tumbling under Paul Dixon's challenge, referee MacDonald decided though that it was Dundee who should be awarded a free kick. County had edged the first half, but after the interval it was Dundee who had slightly the better of the possession, chances were few and far between though. Paul Dixon twice tried his luck from free kicks, but lamentably failed to trouble the keeper. Scott Robertson, who was turning in an energy-charged performance, came closer with a long-range effort that dipped just over. Substitute Bryan Deasley was given a longer run as a substitute than he had experienced previously, replacing O'Reilly in 53 minutes, and he looked the liveliest player afield after his introduction. He came closest to breaking the deadlock with a vicious dipping drive that was only inches away, and was the one of the victims of some rough treatment as County picked up three bookings in quick succession. Manager Alan Kernaghan admitted he was disappointed by Dundee's display and the quality of the match "You could say that on the positive side, it was another clean sheet, our young lads were committed and got through another game without losing, but overall I have to say I was disappointed with the performance and the game. It's the story of our season so far that we are not creating enough chances. Neither keeper was made to work and barring a defensive mistake there was never going to be a goal." |
