| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Ross County 0 Caledonian 3 Caley on Tuesday of last week was a disaster, the outcome of a mistake or two. Principally, however, one felt the Caley management had done their homework, and gone into the game with no “messing” about. Caley’s strong, fleet-footed runs at the defence had an unsettling affect from the start, and it was this strength and speed that were the main differences between the teams. Caley set to their task with a purpose and simply brushed aside their opposition, allowing them little scope to dictate, and even less to pick up passes and men. Caley went into the game with determination and skill, and simply did not allow County to play their own game of slow, deliberate build-up. Caley snapped up passes, and pushed balls forward with strength and purpose to a player who was moving forward in the twinkling of an eye, eager to snap up the pass, and press onward to the County goal. The County defence was under all sorts of pressure, and held out exceptionally well in the circumstances — a pity they were to slipup on two occasions, when it really mattered. The third goal in the second half came when the boys seemed to have come to grips with the situation, and were holding Caley to their two first-half goals. Alas Caley capitalised on a poor clearance, and that was that! Caley won 3-0. |
