| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Cove Rangers 3 Ross County 2 COVE RANGERS’ three goals all came within the last eight minutes of the game two in a spell of injury time. Until the 84th minute, Ross County were holding out well against the Qualifying Cup finalists, but in the end Coves’ flurry of activity won them the day. The Cove goals came from Park, 84 minutes; Smith 90; and S Paterson 92! With just six minutes left of official playing time, Cove looked set to lose at home for the second week ion succession. They were trailing by two goals, and had never really troubled an extremely competent County rear-guard. Then in the 84th minute substitute Park cracked a great drive past Rudkin. Donald Smith scored the second when he headed home a Whyte cross, and then two minutes into injury time, Scott Paterson latched on to a Megginson pass and slotted the ball past Rudkin. County’s first goal, which gave then a first half lead, came in the 36th minute, when Cammie Robertson hit a beautiful shot home from all of 35 yards. Fourteen minutes into the second half, “Nero” Macdonald put the Dingwall club two goals up when he side-footed a shot home. A And then came the final hectic eight minutes! The County team on Saturday was: Rudkin, Somerville, Campbell, Williamson, Bellshaw, O’Brien (Stewart), Wilson (A Robertson), C Robertson, Mackay, Connelly and Macdonald. Tomorrow (Saturday), Ross County entertain Fraserburgh in the League competition. |
