| Match Report | Report from the Press and Journal' Ross County 0 Elgin City 3 ELGIN CITY romped to the top of the TSB Highland League with this victory against Ross County at Dingwall last night. A brace by former Wolves striker John Teasdale and a magnificent 20-yard volley from Chico McHardy put City well on the way by the interval. But County’s task wasn’t helped by an injury to winger Jamie Macpherson, who had to be taken to Raigmore Hospital Inverness, with a leg injury midway through the first half. Elgin meant business right away and Somerville cleared a Paterson shot off the line. It took City only five minutes to get their noses in front with centre forward TEASDALE crashing the ball home from a right wing cross. Five minutes later McHARDY picked up a loose ball and blasted home from 20 yards. County, in their first real raid, came close when Macpherson scooped a Connelly cross over the top, but the winger fell awkwardly and bad to carried off. Macdonald came on in his place in time to see John TEASDALE head a third from Paterson’s cross and a Ferries header shortly after came off a post as Elgin got in some shooting practice. City coasted after the break and while County came back into things young stand-in keeper Gary Watt dealt capably with anything the Ross forwards had to offer. County’s Laidlaw and Bellshaw were booked. |
