Match Report	Report for the Ross-shire Journal. Ross County 1 Inverness Clachnacuddin 0 As expected, they defeated Clach at Victoria Park on Wednesday evening, in bitterly cold conditions with a strong easterly wind blowing. They struggled for form throughout and were fortunate to take three points in the end. County started well, kicking towards the Police Station end, and opening up the Clach defence with fast, open play. However, their finishing left much to be desired, as several gilt-edged opportunities were missed in front of goal. The only goal of the game came in the seventeenth minute, when Billy Ferries took a pass from Gordon Connelly and lobbed the ball over keeper Rudkin’s head. David Jackson had other chances of increasing the lead, but the awkward bounce of the ball on a hard, dry surface spoiled his aim. In the second half, Clach threw everything they had at County, pressing strongly for the equaliser, which was fully deserved for their efforts. Cathcart, the young County keeper from Alness, made an impressive debut and should learn from the experience he is gaining as a replacement for Suttar, who is nursing a groin strain. The second half was full of incident to keep spectators entertained, but most of the excitement was coming from Clach. Late on in the game, Alan Clark for Clach broke through with David Macrae in pursuit, making a challenge inside the box. It seemed a fair shoulder charge; Clach players thought otherwise, but the referee waved play on as he indicated a "dive". Then Clark had the ball in the net, but on this occasion, he was adjudged off-side. It was not Clach’s night at all, for with eight minutes remaining, their midfield player, Andy Gilchrist, was carried off with a leg injury.
