| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Ross County 3 Lossiemouth 1 On Wednesday evening last week, a goodly-sized crowd was present at Victoria Park, where County defeated Lossiemouth 3-1 in a most entertaining game in which there was no lack of good football from both sides. Gordon Connolly, the 20-year-old midfield player from Dunfermline Athletic, greatly impressed throughout and proved a great inspiration to his colleagues. He showed good understanding and many skills, as his quicksilver runs often made better positions for himself and his colleagues, as he opened up the defence in a twinkling. Connolly made the first goal for Billy Ferries, in the 34th minute, when he left the young winger with an open passage on goal. Shortly afterwards, Dave Jackson had a goal disallowed for offside. In the second half, County maintained their pressure and in the 65th minute Jackson scored their second counter. James Mackay got the third in the 79th minute, when with the keeper coming out to meet him as he broke clear from the centre line, he simply lobbed the ball over his head. Six minutes from time, central defender Shand scored a consolation goal for Lossiemouth, when he headed home a corner kick from the County left. |
