Match Report	Report from The Forres Gazette. Forres Mechanics 0 Ross County 1 Ross County were the visitors for Forres Mechanics in a midweek R. B. Farquhar League match at Station Park, Nairn, and a solitary goal gave the Dingwall team the points, though Forres did have chances to get at least a share of the spoils. It was County who created the early chances and it was only Bobby Gray's experience which denied them from taking the lead. Left winger Allan’s header looked a goal all the way until the Forres keeper managed to divert it for a corner, and in the next attack, Connolly was clean through and tried to flick the ball past Gray, but he somehow flung himself to the left and clutched it on the line. At the other end, Graeme Rodger tried to weave his way through but was eventually forced out before he could pass to the unmarked Brian Minty. A clever dummy by Minty left Gerry Davidson in the clear but his half-hit shot went just past with the keeper struggling. Play switched from end-to-end at a furious pace, with both keepers earning their wages in keeping the scoresheet blank. Right on the half-time whistle, Ferries (Ross County) was booked for a late challenge on Philip Lee. Sammy Forsyth almost scored a spectacular goal right after the changeover when Suttar came to the edge of the box to clear and it went straight to Forsyth who lofted it back into the empty goal but Macrae headed clear. A quick break by Ferries set up a chance for Allan but he cracked a low drive wide from eight yards. There was another let-off for Forres when Robertson ran through all on his own but shot past the post. Suttar made a fine save off a Gerry Davidson left-foot drive which was the Mechanics’ best effort of the second half. The north men broke the deadlock after 69 minutes when left-winger Allan played a one-two with Gair and then finished it off with a curling left-foot grounder which sneaked in close to the upright. Tension was now mounting and Kevin Walker (Forres) was booked for a late challenge on County's new star player Connolly, and a couple of minutes later Macrae (Ross County) received a similar fate when he brought down Rodger. It looked as if Forres saved a point in the last minute when Cameron sent in a free-kick and Walker outjumped the County defence but his well-directed header scraped the top of the crossbar and went over.
