| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Rothes 1 Ross County 3 Ross County have made an auspicious start in the Highland League championship this season, and at the moment stand at the top of the table, having collected six points from their three matches. At Rothes, on Saturday, they finished easy winners after they had settled down on a somewhat greasy pitch. Lyall, the new centre-forward from Wick, had a big hand in helping to dispose of Rothes by 3 goals to 1. Showing great opportunism in netting two goals after Ferguson had opened the scoring for County, the Wick player would appear to be the answer to the Ross problem for a sound centre-forward. Underfoot conditions were bad at Rothes, but County kept pressing until Ferguson scored a minute or two before the interval. Forsyth, the homesters' centre-forward, who has scored nearly all the Rothes goals this season, got his side's counter. |
