| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Ross County 5 Caledonian FC 2 Ross County were in fine fettle at Victoria Park on Wednesday evening, when they defeated Inverness Caley by five goals to two in a Highland League fixture. Mr Mac William, Keith, had charge of the game. Playing against a strong wind, the County early asserted themselves and looked businesslike throughout a game which had many ragged patches. Denshaw, the Caley goalkeeper was hurt and appeared dazed when Ogilvie secured the first goal. The equaliser was scored by Maclennan with a low drive from a MacBeath pass. County again took the lead just before the interval, Simpson being the marksman. On resumption the homesters took command straight-away, and Ferguson headed in number three, to be followed by Ogilvie, who scored a well-placed goal. Minutes after, Bremner put the issue beyond doubt, to take the score to five-one, but towards the end of play, Caley were awarded a doubtful penalty. Mackinnon accounting from the spot. The first mid-week game for some time, the crowd attending was a large one. On Monday night (18th), Ross County will travel to Inverness, where they will play Thistle in the first leg of the Stuart Cup. The second leg will be with the same Club at Victoria Park, Dingwall, on Wednesday evening (20th); kick-off, 7 p.m. |
