| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Keith 4 Ross County 1 With nine of the selected team calling off for this last game of the season, County were hard-pressed to find eleven players to make the trip to Keith. Four of the side made their debut and gave quite a good account of themselves, especially young Watt, in goal, who excelled himself and made several brilliant saves in keeping the score down to a reasonable level. Comment at the end of the game was that County have found another "Frank Swift." Ross gave the home side the lead when an attempted clearance misfired and found a billet in his own net. Keith tried hard to increase their lead but Miller, a New Elgin lad, and Ross, kept them at bay until a few minutes from the interval when Boyd headed a cross past Watt. County re-started in a more aggressive manner and Macpherson tested Telfer with a rocket shot. A minute later the same player had a good run which took him to the bye-line, where he showed considerable astuteness in flicking a back pass to the oncoming Farmer, who reduced the deficit. The attacking phase was brief and Keith began a bombardment of Watt's charge, but only pierced his grand defence on two more occasions, both Boyd headers. |
