| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Keith 1 Ross County 2 Ross County had the honour of winning its opening match of the season under Highland League auspices, and they deserve all the more credit because the game was played away from home. Notwithstanding the long trek to Keith, they rose to the occasion and handsomely defeated Keith by two goals, both scored by Cameron, the centre-forward. No doubt Keith were disappointing in the forward line, but that did not detract from their opponents' display, who in the end won comfortably. In the first half, Keith had more of the game, but foozled scoring chances. Faulty positional play, players too close together, never being in open space - were the main faults. Ross County were not so strong in defence, but their forwards were superior to the home side, faster on the ball and more accurate in their shooting. County were lucky to cross over a goal ahead through Cameron. The same player added another 15 minutes after the interval. Although they did not score again, County were definitely the stronger team. |
