| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Forres Mechanics 1 Ross County 2 Two away wins in succession for Ross County has materially advanced their position in the League. On Saturday they visited Forres and played the Mechanics, who it will be recalled, put paid to the career of the County in the North of Scotland Cup competition. The visitors won by the odd goal in three, although it is claimed that a draw would have been a more fair reflection of the game. Ross County were masters in the open in the first half, but Clark was the only one to score. This was no fault of the County forwards, but rather the brilliant goalkeeping of Wisniewski, who alone kept the score down. On resuming, Ogilvie put his team further ahead in the first minutes. From then on Forres took command and Pines reduced the leeway. Newton then came into the picture, and with magnificent help from pivot Patience, defied all the Mechanics' efforts to score. Their marksmanship, however, was not quite as good as that of Ross County in the first half. |
