| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Fraserburgh 1 Ross County 1 Ross County, at Fraserburgh, added to its reputation as a winning away team. In their last three away games they brought home five points. Fraserburgh, on Saturday, did manage to equalise at the last moment, but only as the result of a penalty. Right from the start the visitors had the better of the exchanges, and Kennedy, in goal, had to handle on several occasions. In 12 minutes Ross County went deservedly ahead. This was after Urquhart had had a good but unsuccessful try. Urquhart, however, deserved credit for the first score. He gave a perfect pass to Ferguson, who only had to tap it through. A little later Ferguson's hard drive was stopped by the cross-bar. County continued to have the advantage territorially and the home defence was well-tested. Ross County backs were kicking with great power and Newton was practically a passenger. After the turn-round, Fraserburgh improved, but the shooting of the forwards was off the mark. They strove hard for the equaliser, but Patience, McGrory and Ross were giving nothing away. There was much end to end play, but it was just at the close that Fraserburgh equalised, when a penalty was converted by Erskine. In both teams the defences were too strong for the forwards. |
