| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Ross County 2 Forres Mechanics 2 Ross County met Forres Mechanics at Dingwall on Saturday, in a North of Scotland Football League game. The result was a draw of two goals each, a fair reflex of the play. It was a delightful autumn day, a warm sun being nicely tempered by a cool breeze. Ross County had the wind at their backs in the first half and their opponents had a further disadvantage of facing a sinking sun. On play, however, there was little to choose between the teams. Both defences were on top, and if the forwards did at times get near the goalkeepers, their efforts at finishing were poor and on occasion ridiculous. On numerous occasions both sets of forwards had glorious scoring chances, but only Ross County succeeded, and that only once. Ogilvie had the credit, but the spade work came from the left wing. The visitors started off the second half in great style. Within five minutes they had equalised through Wm. Taylor, and three minutes later Buchanan put them ahead. It took fifteen minutes for Ross County to equalise, Connel sending over a centre which struck the inside of the off post and fell into the net. No goalkeeper could have saved the shot. There was no further scoring, but that was not due to lack of opportunity, but rather to the ineptitude of the forwards. The principal features of the game were the sportsmanship of all the players, and the conducting of the game by the referee, Mr Harrower, R.A.F., which was exemplary. |
