| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Ross County 3 Nairn County 2 Ross County, having a vacant date as far as League engagements were concerned, played a friendly game with Nairn County at Dingwall on Saturday. It was an interesting game without being brilliant. The home team won by 3 goals to 2. They just deserved it and no more. In the open, Ross County had a slight advantage; in front of goal neither team could claim an advantage. Not one of the forwards seemed to have a shot in his locker. Those that did reach the goalkeepers were easily handled. Late in the first half, Cameron scored for Nairn, his shot from far out creeping in below the cross-bar. Macintyre reached the ball, but could not hold it. Three minutes later, Ogilvie got the equaliser, converting a perfect cross from Connell on the left. Early in the second half the visitors again took the lead. The ball was handled in the penalty area and Tulloch made no mistake. It was one of these unfortunate incidents in football. The ball played the man and struck his arm. It took place in the dreaded area, and a foul by a defender in that area, intentionally or otherwise, is a penalty kick. Such is the law. However, the success was quickly nullified, when Connell scored another of his wonder goals. Almost from the corner flag he crossed the ball to the goal and it reached the net inside the top corner of the off post. This was a repeat performance; he did the same against Clachnacuddin a week ago. From this point it looked as if a draw would be the result, but just before time the Ross County forwards scrambled the ball into the net to give them the lead. It was a pleasant, friendly game, without frills and certainly few thrills. |
