| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Huntly 4 Ross County 2 Ross County made several changes in this match, which took place at Huntly. They included Jock Gilmour, the old Dundee player, at centre-half and O. Munro, Inverness Thistle, and Bridle, Citadel, as backs. Gilmour was a back with Dundee, but it was hoped that he would be better at centre-half for the County. With these wholesale changes in the rear, the County made alterations in the attack. The team which took the field was:—Gillanders; O. Munro and Brindle; W. G. Ross, Gilmour and K. Moir; J. A. Mackay, Corbett, M. Mackay, J. A. Ross and W. Mackenzie. The first half provided all the thrills in a keen and exciting game. Ross County snapped the lead in the first minute through Corbett, but inside three minutes Sutherland put on the equaliser. Gilmour was unfortunate with a pass-back which completely deceived Gillanders, and rolled slowly into the net. Then Munro badly miskicked and Nicol fastened on to increase the home lead. The same player gave Sutherland a perfect pass and the latter made no mistake. Near the crossover, County reduced the leeway with a goal which was hotly disputed. The closing half was both goal-less and uninteresting. By their smart first-half display, Huntly merited full points. Connel, Huntly's schoolboy, is the best outside-right the club has tried for a long time. The County team were all triers, but lacked cohesion. |
