| Match Report | Report from the North Star. Inverness Thistle 2 Ross County 0 The meeting of Inverness Thistle and Ross County in the semi-final of the Inverness Cup at Kingsmills Park, Inverness, on Wednesday night, provided some grand football. Ross County were minus two of their regular players, Brindle and Macdonald. Stewart, Alness, filled the left back berth, while A. Ross, Dingwall, took up the outside right position, J. A. Mackay going to the inside. Many scoring chances were missed by both teams before the first goal came in twenty-five minutes. It was a beautifully taken goal by Munro, who flung himself at a fast low ball from Ballantyne. Although Ross County claimed for offside their claim was ignored. The Inverness team took a good grip of the game, and went further ahead a few minutes from halftime. Munro was again the scorer, when he converted a good cross from Mackenzie. Ross County opened strongly in the second half but their forwards were a scrappy lot and never looked dangerous. Morgan Mackay, however, had hard lines with a good drive. Later the Dingwall team seemed certain to score during a goalmouth scramble but the chance was thrown away. Until the end play was fairly even and no further scoring took place. |
