| Match Report | Report from the Highland News. Caledonian FC 3 Ross County 3 After being two goals in arrears, Ross County made a fine recovery and shared Highland League points with Caledonian at Telford Street Park on Monday night. A runaway victory for the homesters was promised in the early stages. They scored in the first minute through Smart, who converted a pass from Reid, and they did the bulk of the pressing until thirty minutes, when Smart got a second goal by heading home a grand cross from R. Cameron. County wakened up after this, and surprised the crowd by scoring two goals in as many minutes. First, Morgan Mackay struck the bar with a fine drive, and then R. Ross reduced the leeway. Immediately afterwards Macdonald had a splendid equalising goal with a terrific shot from thirty yards. Caley recaptured their early dash on the resumption, and within a minute had taken the lead. Reid scored with a first-time drive, after a faulty clearance by Stewart. Ross County, however, came back into the picture, and D. Ross put them on level terms with a simple counter. Caley appeared to tire in the later stages, and the County severely tested their defence. J. A. Mackay, County's right-half, gave a first-rate performance, and others who did well for the Dingwall team were Macneil, Garrow, Bowie and D. Ross. Caley were well served by Main, W. Cameron, Smart and Reid. |
