| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Keith 1 Ross County 1 Ross County had to take the field with four of their regular team absent in the match against Keith. It says much for them that they were able to carry off one point. Two forwards, Mackay and Bowie, took up the back position in place of Anderson and Macmillan. James Ross took Urquhart's place, and there were three new forwards. All over, Keith were the better team, but the County deserved to share the points for their more go-ahead tactics. The homesters did not show the fine positional play which has been a feature of their play in recent weeks, and far too many of their passes went astray. They were inclined to overdo the close passing. Ross County, with kick-and-rush tactics, made more ground, but as a rule, their forwards were not up to supporting each other. Keith had the advantage in the first period and deservedly took the lead through Gill, but though they kept up an almost continual pressure, further goals were denied them, the County defence being in great form. The second half, after an initial raid by Keith, saw the homesters having to do a good deal of defending, and in a hot raid, Whitecross put through his own goal. Keith wakened up after this and were a trifle unlucky not to go ahead in a number of really good raids, but the whistle went without further scoring. Muldoonie was the better of the two goalkeepers and Ross County had the steadier backs. Macrae was the best of the visiting halves, and Morrison and Tarrel the pick of their forwards. M. Ross confirmed the good impression he made at Keith at outside-right. F. Jamieson has been seen to better advantage. Moffat also has done better, but he finished strongly. A. Jamieson was good at right half. |
