Ross County 5 Forres Mechanics 0

ROSS COUNTY v. FORRES MECHANICS: Ross County was in rampant form against Forres Mechanics at Dingwall. Indeed, they gave their best display of the season so far. They scored no fewer than five goals. It was not the goal scoring, however, that delighted their supporters so much as the perfection of understanding and dazzling combination which was shown by the players from the goal out. On occasion it was almost weird. Urquhart fed Bowie with machine-like accuracy, while on the right wing Tarrell and Cumming often interchanged their positions to the utmost bewilderment of their opponents. Had W. Mackenzie been at his top form, even more goals would have been scored.
The opposition of the Forres Mechanics was not as futile as the score suggests. They were a capable, workmanlike lot, but they were entirely out of luck. Nothing they tried would come off; on the other hand, Ross County could do nothing wrong.
It would be invidious to individualise; all the County players were in excellent form with the exception, perhaps, of the centre forward.
The Forres defence was very sound at the outset, and for a time, Cumming and his backs defied the virile attack of the County. In the second half, however, they fell away. Cowie was the best half-back, and Dickie and Mason the outstanding forwards.
The field was wet and soft, which made the going very heavy. The players slipped in every direction, and particularly the visitors. This made the fine exhibition of the home men all the more remarkable.
The goal-scorers were: Tarrell (2), Mackenzie, Bowie, and Cumming.
