| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Forres Mechanics 8 Ross County 0 Ross County visited Forres on Saturday and met the Mechanics in a Highland League game. They had to travel without a number of the regular players, and the team which took the field was as follows: The result was almost a debacle. The Mechanics scored no fewer than eight goals, to which the County failed to reply. The first half was wonderfully even, although the home team had the advantage territorially. Only one goal was scored when Black headed through. But for the splendid defence of Macrae, the score would have been larger. But even Macrae could not stem the tide in the second half and a riot of goals followed. J. Dickie started it by beating Brett with a nice drive in the opening minutes. A penalty provided G. Dickie with a third and led to the Garrow incident. J. Dickie made the total four by netting during a melee. Campbell had a chance to open the Dingwall team’s account, but he sent a penalty kick past. The game was rough and there were several unfortunate incidents, one of which culminated in Cumming, Ross County, being ordered off the field. |
