Forres Mechanics 3 Ross County 3

This was a game one wants to forget readily for the many nasty incidents that punctuated its progress and so made it pass outside the sphere of a display of football. Tempers were easily on edge and came to a crisis when Scott, the visiting custodian, was carried off injured.
Of the goal scoring, the County were generally in the lead, for Forres lost Innes early in the game, when he collided with Ramage. But the forced retirement of Scott changed the aspects, for Macleod seemed strange between the sticks and the players as a team seemed affected by what happened.
Once the teams reached evens, the game petered out for the final whistle to bring a welcome relief.
As usual, Aird figured in having his usual say—two goals, while Traill shot home from the penalty spot. While he was custodian, Scott was brilliant, with Munro and Stewart sound backs. The latter, fresh from junior ranks, was surprisingly steady under the pressure of Forres' best wing, Dickie and Macdonald. Of the halves, Ramage was a forceful pivot, and on his left, Macleod a schemer. In front, Aird was exceedingly lively but seemed to receive only the desired support from Traill at inside left.
