| Match Report | Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Nairn County 2, Ross County 0 Few, if any, expected Ross County to go down to lowly Nairn at Nairn on Saturday by two goals to nil, when in a previous match at Dingwall, Ross-shire won as they pleased by four goals to nothing. Any hope the County had of getting into a challenging position in the Highland League has now evaporated, but they still have a good say in the ultimate destiny of the flag, as all the leaders have yet to visit Dingwall and the County are no small beer. Morrison was the only absentee from the regular Ross-shire side, and his place was ably filled by Finlayson, a Dingwall lad, who, though lacking playing experience, gave a convincing display. Ross County started off like winners but their shooting was weak. For a time, Nairn held a distinct advantage, but towards half-time Ross County became aggressive and the Nairn goalkeeper was kept busy. Brey was severely tested after the resumption but saved confidently from Morrison. A nice movement by Mackintosh made an opening for Morrison, and the latter... Hart was the general of the North eleven, but despite his utmost efforts he could not get his forwards to work in unison, too much bunching in the inside positions nullifying half-back work. A sharp header by Morrison put Nairn two up and sealed Ross-shire's fate. Grant got the ball in the net, but just as he shot, the referee pulled up Kerr for fouling. |
